CANOPY VENT FAQ's

How many vents do I need?

There's no one right answer here, as not all canopies and environments are the same, so just use your best judgment on quantity and placement and add more vents as required.

The more vents you have, the better the result. Some larger boxes with more restrictive fit-outs may need more vents.

Our general recommendation for most people with a dual cab sized canopy would be to start with two vents and evaluate from there.

What’s the best position to mount these in?

Again, there's one one right answer here, and it comes down to where you can fit them, and where you think they would be most effective for your particular setup.

We now have 3 different variants of vents, a Front Mount, Side Mount and Roof Mount.

Front Mount vent are suitable for mounting on the front or the back of the canopy. They are the best way to create positive pressure inside the canopy reducing dust ingress. A good starting point for most people would be to mount 2 of these on the front of their canopy, positioned out wide and up high to capture airflow when travelling.

Side Mount vents are suitable for mounting to canopy doors, and act as more of an exhaust when travelling as the louvred openings are facing backwards to prevent direct water and dust ingress. Because they primarily exhaust when travelling, we recommend only using side vents if you have other vents letting air into the canopy.

Roof Mount vents are our only vent designed to be on the roof of the canopy. Roof vents can be positioned anywhere on the roof where you think might be most effective for your setup. If you have the choice, fitting 1 or 2 of these somewhere in the middle of the roof makes sense for most setups.

Are they waterproof?

Rogue Vents are water resistant but not waterproof. They can handle all normal weather conditions but like any vent that lets air in, they have the potential to leak water if they are submerged or have water sprayed directly into the openings.

Can I fit these to a fibreglass canopy?

These vents have been designed for mounting on flat aluminium or steel sheet surfaces. It may be possible to mount them to other material types such as fibreglass, however we have not tested this ourselves and cannot guarantee they will be suitable.

Do I need a fan kit?

Vents don't need a fan to work. Adding a fan to a vent can help move air in/out more effectively, and can help to circulate air inside the canopy. Keep in mind this is only a fan and wont cool the air, they are for the movement of air.

If you are going to add a fan to one of our vents, we advise having another vent somewhere else without a fan as a passive intake/exhaust. This way you have air going in and out of the canopy.

Fan kits can be added to any of our vents, as they all come with pre-drilled mounting holes.

Does the fan come with a switch or thermostat controller?

No, all fans come with bare wires only so you can decide how you want integrate this into your system.

How do I change the filter?

Filters are removable from the inside of the canopy without having to access the heads of the bolts on the outside of the canopy. This is done by removing the 4 plain nuts holding the filter housing in place.

Why doesn't the filter slide in and out?

Our filter is mounted inside a housing with 4 plain nuts keeping pressure on the filter seal around the intake cutout.

Unlike other vents on the market, we don't want the filter to sit loosely in the filter housing as this would allow an airgap between the filter and the cutout/air intake where dust could bypass the filter.

I can see the blue filter seal when fitted, is this normal?

Yes. The filter housing is not meant to cover the blue seal of the filter completely. The housing has been made smaller to allow for tightening of the nuts on the filter housing to increase the pressure of the seal against the mounting surface. It is also under-folded on the mounting flange sides of the filter housing to allow for the mounting hardware that hold the external vent pieces in place.

How often should I check or change the filter?

Just use common sense here, If you are primarily driving in town and on sealed roads, it could be something you check at each service interval.

Check them more frequently if you spend a lot of time on dusty tracks and before and after a big trip.

Can I get replacement filters?

Yes, these are a common air filter that we keep in stock and can post Australia wide.

Do you have any stockists or locations I can view these at?

Currently we don't have any stockists where you can view these outside of our store in Dubbo. We do offer Australia wide postage.

Do you offer discounts for large quantities?

Yes, we offer volume based discounts to all customers which are automatically applied at checkout.

We do not offer additional discounts to trade/ABN holders.

Volume based discounts are not available on sale items and do not combine with other discounts, promotions or offers.

Can I get the vents colour matched to my canopy/box?

We don’t offer a colour matching service, but all Front Mount and Side Mount vents are supplied completely disassembled so if you buy the raw aluminium finish vent, you’ll be able to have it done at your local powder coater or spray shop.

Front and side mount vents are available in a black ore white powder coated finishes or as raw aluminium.

Roof vents are only available in black at this time.

Can I use these to ventilate a dog box?

No. Dog boxes require large unfiltered openings for sufficient airflow to prevent overheating. None of our vents are suitable for this application.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Note that we cannot guarantee dispatch or shipping timeframes, so please consider this before placing your order.

How do I get more advice?

As we have mentioned throughout these FAQ's there's no one right answer for the placements and quantity of vents you may need. While we can make suggestions as to placement and quantity, this is general advice only and we recommend using your best judgment to suit your setup and needs.

The best way to reach us for additional advice is through our enquiry form on our Contact page. We will direct your enquiry to the best person available to respond, and will do our best to get back to you within 24 hours.
